Friday update

There are some problems with getting information from the desert. Friday route has two special stages, Desert racer Team finished on 8th and 9th positions. In a Bir Aouine camp surprise was waiting for the participants – shower:-)

Saturday update

Saturday about 150 km distance wasn’t as difficult as they expect. The rain was raining and this helped them to drive through dunes quickly.

Saturday results

They didn’t expect rain on the desert, but it was raining almost the whole day today. That rain helps them to get through the dune fields, most of them very, very high, 60-100m. All participants arrived to the camp in the afternoon, when strong wind appears and try to blow away their tents.

Results after Saturday special stage: Desert Racer Team finished on 8th position and go up by one place to 5th position in general classification.

Sunday news

Today special stage from El Borma to Ksar Ghilane is finished. Route to the north was quite easy today, after yesterday downpour of rain. The 100 km stage was short and quick with some navigation elements. There are no results yet.

Monday

Today - special stage around Ksar Ghilane.

The organizer planned today’s special stage as a difficult and exhausting, both for participants as well as their vehicles.

At first, 50 km route through sands by the fort in Ksar Ghilane, then the proficiency test of pilots i.e. the test for navigations through difficult sandy route.

Tuesday result

Desert Racer Team had some technical problems during special stage today. They finished route after 5 hours driving through the dust dunes. There are still some participants on the route…

They finished on 9th position today. Desert Racer Team lost 5th position they have for last few days because of this breakdown.

Wednesday – the last day of El Chott Rally

160km distance from Ksar Ghilane to Douz, through the dunes and metalled route. It will be a challenge!

Wednesday – El Chott Rally is finished

Desert racer Team finished El Chott Rally 2006. Today it took them about 5 hours to drive through the dunes and metalled route to Douz. They lost rear shock absorbers and it doesn’t help them. First teams are on the finish, there are still some participants on the route…

Wednesday finish

All teams reached the finish of El Chott 2006. Last day of rally was difficult and exhausting. At the end all participants took part in a parade through the streets of Douz.

Wednesday result

The last special stage Desert Racer team finished on 6th position, and they have 7th result in general. German teams are the winners of 22nd El Chott Rally.

Thursday

Today they have about 500km route to Hammamet, no special stage.

22nd El Chott Rally was shorter and easier then 21st edition of this rally, more speedy then technical. There were no participants spending night alone on the desert. Special stages took them just few hours, not from dawn to dusk. Probably, the organizer was afraid of situation happened last year. The only problem they have was food. Ugly food!
